This is a historical round Viking Shield with eye pooping authentic colors. This shield is based on the shields found on the Gokstad Ship from the 9th Century AD in what is today Norway. The shield has a metal boss contrasting a beautiful red, yellow and black tri color diamond pattern. The edge of the shield is covered in a leather rim. The shield is made of wood and has a real leather grip and arm strap. This makes the shield very durable, easy to store and ambidextrous. It can be used on either the right or left hand as the user pleases.

Note: Due to the handmade nature of this product, slight imperfections and variations may exist.

Historical Significance
Gokstad Mound aka King's Mound is a world heritage site in Vestfold County in Norway. In 1880 AD a ship now known as Gokstad Ship was excavated there. It is estimated that the ship was constarueted in 890 AD. The ship now rests in Viking Museum in Oslo. Upon its discovery 64 shield were found on the ship. Some of the shields had this pattern on them that we have replicated in our Viking Knights shield here.
